100 Bible Stories for Children: Book Review

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a great weekend :). Last week I received this  complimentary book from Tyndale House Publishers, and let me tell you it has been a blessing for my girls and I! It has been the perfect way to do our devotionals this summer.

The illustrations are bright and beautiful even my two-year old sits through my reading. Each chapter is a story of 2-4 pages with the paintings covering most of it.

Since Monday of this week we have been sitting  down every day and reading 1-2 chapters. It has opened up biblical discussions with my 8yr old and I can see the seed being planted as I read and watch her eyes fill with questions, curiosity, and understanding. The first time we read she asked so many questions about Adam and Eve then asked if Jesus was God, I never saw that one coming, LOL!!  This is a great tool to teach your children God’s word, I am very happy with this gem and highly recommend it to any parent, aunt, uncle, or child of reading age. My oldest knows how to read but, I enjoy reading to them. When I’m done they both take turns taking a closer look at the pictures :). DSC_0327.JPG

  1. Looks like an excellent book for anyone wishing to bring up the youngest ones in the way of the faith. Hopefully used for discussion of the sometimes hidden depths of the stories themselves. A worthy substitute for the Sunday schools that used to be such a joy for younger ones who were often confused and probably intimidated by the main services.

  7. From what I can see of the illustrations, I like them. My mom bought me similar books when I was a child and I appreciated them.

  19. Yes! Something I struggle with is actually sitting down and reading God’s word with them. And I was reminded of the importance of it a couple months ago in a preaching. The pastor said from when we bring our babies home from the hospital to the day they graduate from high school, we have approximately 936 weeks with them then they are off to college or of legal age to make decisions. He demonstrated with a jar full of 936 marbles and he had an extra jar where he began to pour from the full one. I laughed when he said ‘So when your child is 9, you’ve already lost half your marbles’. But as I visually watch the first jar go half way down, I sobered because my oldest is almost 9. I realized how time is going by so fast and I’m failing to give them the most important tools in life. I don’t want to be so preoccupied in my own salvation I forget about my own children. And while I talk with them about God and take them to Sunday school, I need to spend more time at home praying and reading His word with them. I’m trying but, it’s not always easy because my husband is not a believer, however I will do the best to raise them in God’s ways 💕.

  20. You’re so right. The amount of time we have is so small. It seems so long in the beginning but very quickly it starts to move forward at the speed of light. My eldest little person has a devotional thatcwe read together each night, it’s a start but we need to do more I feel. Thanks for sharing x

  27. I remember as a kid, my favourite book was a book of Children’s Bible Stories.

    And my favourite stories in the book were the story of David and Goliath and the story of Jesus multiplying the loaves and fishes.

  28. Both great stories! I don’t know if I had a fave or not but I definitely remember my children’s bible. I was always fascinated by the illustrations!
