Happy Wednesday! Half way through the week and half way through the month! OMG!! School begins soon and I feel like just yesterday my girls were let out for vacation. Man time is flying!!
Anyway, I’ve been wanting to do reviews on audio books I listen to but, these are usually for pleasure not given to me for review so I tell myself ‘self why give yourself more responsibility?’, especially because I can listen to up to three per week! Yet some are just so worthy of being discovered, I feel it’s my duty to review. So I decided that once a month, I’ll do an over all review of the ones heard from the previous month. I won’t give the full description, just rate and state what emotions may have surface when I listened lol.
So this screen shot are the ones I checked out on my library app, minus one I accidentally deleted 🙂 :
So Smitten is actually 4 short contemporary romance stories of 4 girl friends, written by 4 different authors. They are all based in the same town with same characters except each author has their own main one of course. I rate the book as a whole, a 4 🌟. It was charming up beat, and all authors have a good sense a humor.
Back Home Again by Melody Carlson is a Woman’s Fiction (zero romance) and very slow pace but, of course since I listen at work and have no where to go, I listened. I rate it a 4 🌟 just because I found the story very interesting even with its slow pace. 3 sisters over their mid 50s inherit their father’s house after his passing, instead of selling they decide to make it into a B&B. Of course the sisters are very different, can’t agree on renovations and thus what I found an entertaining plot and different to what I am use to listening or reading:).
Patricia Bradley is a mystery/romance writer and I completely fan over her so I’m not sure if my scores are as I say, but I find her stories entertaining, humorous. This is a series but can be read/heard as stand alone. I give Justice Buried a 4.5 🌟 and Justice Betrayed a solid 5 🌟. The latter, in my opinion is the best from all her books. I mean, come on! All these Elvis impersonators were being murdered, it was exhilarating! OK that sounded sick, but this is fictional lol.
Next, Lisa Wingate’s Word Gets Around. This book is hilarious 😂 ! It has to be easily at least 5 years since a book has made me cry of laughter…multiple times. I may be delirious at 3am at work but, no other book has made me laugh so hard I cry not to mention leaving my jaw sore from laughter. The narrator here is impressive! Some parts were a bit slow pace but, if this ain’t a 5 🌟 it’s a 4.75 lol. I literally wanted to start it all over as soon as it was finished 😁 ! However I was eager to listen to book 2 in this series…which is the book I accidentally erased from my library activity log. This second one is called Talk Around Town. I expected to laugh just as hard as the first, which in the beginning I did. However by mid book I was fighting tears of sorrow. At the end Lisa Wingate ended with this mind-blowing analogy that I could not keep my tears at bay and I had to walk away from my work station. I shamelessly let the tears flow as I praised God for his great love and patience. Lisa poured her heart out on paper especially at the end. I can’t say how much this book made me ponder long after hearing it. This is a solid 5 🌟.
Last but not least, from my audible app
This was a mind blowing book! I believe the genre is fantasy, not at all my but, the audio was on sale for $2 and the description sounded interesting. This book was so intriguing, suspenseful, a bit humorous, and just wow. I was not expecting the analogy author James made. I was blown away, this is 5 🌟 all the way!!! Although I did not cry, I did find myself examining myself and asking God for forgiveness. It was humbling and just wow. This one was the book that surprised me the most from July’s audio books!
Well sorry for my longest post ever! Lucky for you guys, I have to get to work so this is the end 😁. If made it this far thank you lol!!
