Excellent Historical Books! πŸ‘

Happy Wednesday, half way through the week! πŸ‘

I’ve listened to so many audio books in the past few weeks, I can’t remember the sequence πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I’ll probably do at least two posts.

When The Men Were Gone, is amazing πŸ‘! I don’t often say a book must be turn into a movie but this is one of those exceptions πŸ’•. Author Marjorie captures the emotions of a Texas little town, as it divides when a female steps out to coach a high-school football during WWII. Throw in the loss of loved ones to war, and the humbling way the team protests at a board meeting set to cancel football, it was useless to try keeping my tears at bay 😭 . No romance just a great moving book, inspired by a true story, that can be enjoyed by everyone. I give it 5 πŸ’•.

Another 5 πŸ’•Β novel brought on by Lynn Austin. This light romance and had me laughing out loud! πŸ‘Β  It was adventurous, full of humor and a great analogyΒ of God’s fatherly love that will keep you reflecting long after you have finished itΒ Β πŸ’•Β .

This was a great novel by Susan Meissner! πŸ‘Β I was laughing in the beginning but, like most war novels I got weepy mid way. This contemporary story about a woman who digs up family history in attempt to understand why this house used during the Civil War seems to have ghosts and a curse. Although light in romance, it displays all shapes of true love. I rate it 4 1/2 πŸ’•Β .

A Chance at Forever is a very romantic story of two souls who must confront their past. I love how author Melissa Jagears demonstrates the cause and effects of being bullied as well as what the bully might be feeling. It is such an important subject well addressed.

The narrator had a good voice and was okay, but a couple of times I failed to realize the switch of character because the lack of change in her voice. It’s still a great novel and will be looking into other of her books πŸ˜‰.Β πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’•Β

My rating system:

πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• –Β Β  Β I love this book so much I could kiss the author!

πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• –Β Β IΒ  love it!

Β  πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• –Β  It’s a good book.

Β πŸ’• πŸ’•Β – It’s OK.

πŸ’• – Not my cup of coffee and I didn’tΒ  have the heart to finish it.

    1. Ha! Maybe I should modify my rating system πŸ€”.
Thank God most authors I fan about are older women who don’t read my ratings. I totally mean a holy kiss on the cheek though πŸ˜‰.

    1. Haha, sorry I’m barely getting back to you, my phone died! J/k
Actually I’ve been having phone trouble. The battery dies to quickly and can take 1000 hours to fully charge! I’m trying to refrain from buying a new one so I’ve gotten rid of many apps, ect. to help it last longer πŸ˜‰.
My writing is going slow, as I only tend to write on weekend nights.
You will get there just don’t stop completely. What genre are you interested in? Maybe we can brain storm together.
I enrolled in the Rubart Writing Academy, last week. So I’m spending a lot of energy there but, I am learning so much! πŸ‘

      1. I’d like to do something about like my Brain Storms post. Something with poetry, quotes, art and little quirks here and there. Something different! 😊

              1. That’s very true. Because all I can see is a hot mess! But for some reason, some people like me lol! But I can write books about other people and what I think of them..

            1. As an assignment I had to ask 10 people to describe me in a word or phrase. I couldn’t believe any of the good things my loved ones were saying. But I now see what the instruction was getting at.

                  1. I’m the worst lol!! Drill sergeants have nothing on me… and I hate it but it’s how I am..

You seem pretty shy, until you get to know someone. Then you seem pretty warm and understanding. I’m sure there’s some feistiness in there. I haven’t got to see that and that’s ok! Lol!!

                    1. Lol, it’s not that I’m mean at work but coffee makes me goofy. I’ll sing, dance, pretend I’m playing instruments, immitate singers, and say absurd things that has everyone laughing silly. Now it remains to be known if they are laughing at me or what I am saying πŸ˜‚

    1. Thank you! I checked it out because the library was announcing author coming in April. I saw it was a Texas book and had to check it out. I’m planning on buying it at Barnes and Nobles this weekend so that I can take it to her signing next weekend πŸ˜‰ πŸ‘ πŸ’•
