June Audio Recap

Happy July! πŸ‘

Those who’ve followed me for awhile know I listen to books at work but last month, I listened mostly to music.

Although I did hear a total of four, the two by C.S Lewis were very short. However it’s not about the quantity hours but quality, such is the case with classic Screwtape Letters. πŸ’•Β

5 πŸ’•Β  for the comical demonstration, Lewis conveys as his imagination takes flight. I don’t normally add back cover stuff but I can’t help myself with this one.

Description:Β Wormwood, a demon apprentice, must secure the damnation of a young man who’s just become a Christian. He seeks the advice of an experienced devil, his uncle Screwtape. Their correspondence offers invaluable—and often humorous—insights on temptation, pride, and the ultimate victory of faith over evil forces.Β

I also listened to a non-finon by Lewis, Reflections on the Psalms.

I wish I could’ve entered his mind to pick through it. Amazing way he processed things. I give it a 4 1/2 πŸ’•.

Then I had to go for more Julie Klassen πŸ˜‰ .

This actually wasn’t my favorite by her, although very good. The protagonist would annoy me at times but by the end of the novel she blossoms and it’s always enlightening to watch the characters grow spiritually and personally. I rate this 4 πŸ’•.

Last but not least, The Secrets of Paper and Ink.

I’d seen this gem circulating on social media and it was a great Woman’s fiction. I rate it 4 πŸ’•.

Well that’s it for now. Any book recommendations?

My rating system:

πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’•Β  I love this book so much I could kiss the author!

πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’• IΒ  love it!

Β πŸ’• πŸ’• πŸ’•Β  Β It’s a good book.

πŸ’• πŸ’•Β  Β It’s OK.

πŸ’• Not my cup of coffee and I didn’tΒ  have the heart to finish it.

  1. The Screwtape Letters is one of my favorite books. I’ve read it several times and each time I do, different parts stick out to meβ€”usually the parts where I’m also struggling with temptation at the time! It β€œpulls back the curtain,” so to speak, like in the Wizard of Oz, and helps take away the power of the tempter. They’re just little guys behind a curtain messing around with special effects and the only real power they have is what we give them over us! So good.

  2. As much as I prefer to hold a book and smell the pages like a weirdo, my TBR pile would be overflowing if it wasn’t for audio books. The library app is a money and time saver :).

  3. It’s funny because as it played, I was like ‘how naive the devil must think I am. I ain’t falling for that temptation again!’ πŸ˜‚. Of course Overcoming weaknesses can be a daily battle but I must remember the Almighty is on my side.
I joined a book club at CBC and super excited this is November’s choice. I’m ready to re-read :).
